Starting Digital Marketing? These Tips Helped Me – Maybe They’ll Help You Too
When I first heard about digital marketing, I thought, “Wow, this sounds cool!” But then I started looking into it, and honestly, I got confused. There were so many things SEO, Google Ads, content writing, email marketing… I didn’t know where to begin.
If you’re also just starting out and feel a little lost, it’s okay. I’ve been there. So here are some tips that helped me in the beginning.

I hope they make your journey easier too.
1. Learn the Basics First
Before jumping into anything big, it’s better to learn the basics. I know it sounds boring, but trust me
it makes everything easier later. Start with simple questions like:
• What is digital marketing?
• What does SEO mean?
• What’s the point of writing content or running ads?
Once I understood these things, I stopped feeling confused. I started seeing how all the small parts fit together. It was like putting together a puzzle.
2. Pick One Thing to Focus On
There are many areas in digital marketing. Trying to learn everything at once will only stress you out (I did that, and it didn’t work).
Pick one thing you find interesting. For me, it was social media marketing. I liked making posts, learning about hashtags, checking what works and what doesn’t.
After I got a bit better at that, I moved on to learn SEO. So, choose one thing, get comfortable with it, then move to the next.
3. Learn From Free Stuff First
You don’t have to buy any course or spend money in the beginning. There are many great free resources online. Some of my favorites:
• Google Digital Garage – Great beginner lessons
• HubSpot Academy – Free courses with certificates
• YouTube – Just search what you want to learn, and you’ll find it
I used to study a little bit every night before sleep. Slowly, I started understanding things better.
4. Practice Is More Important Than Just Watching Videos
Watching videos and reading blogs is good, but if you don’t try things yourself, you won’t really learn.
Here’s what I did:
• I started a blog to try writing
• I created a social media page and tried posting regularly
• I even helped a cousin with their small business page
Even small practice like this helped me a lot. It’s okay if you make mistakes. That’s how we learn.
5. Don’t Expect Fast Results
This is something many people don’t talk about digital marketing takes time.
At first, my blog had only 2 or 3 views. Some posts got no likes. I felt like giving up. But I kept going. After some time, things started improving.
You have to be patient. You might fail at first, but that’s normal. The more you try, the better you’ll get.
One Last Thing
Don’t stress too much. You don’t have to be perfect. Everyone starts somewhere.
Just start learning, try doing things, and keep going step by step. If I can do it, so can you.
Good luck and enjoy learning something new!
